ST Joseph’s Secondary School under-19 team is the new winner of the Suva District Secondary Schools Hockey play-off.

Davuilevu-based Lelean Memorial School finished second and ACS was third to complete the top three teams from the Suva District.

In the U16 grade, ACS finished on top, followed by Lelean and SJSS respectively.

Marist Brothers High School U19 boys team and Gospel High School qualify for the national finals.

MBHS and GHS will also feature in the U16 grade along with Cathedral Secondary School. CSS finished third team from Suva.

Fiji Secondary Schools Hockey Association president Immanuel Prasad said SJSS would be the favourite at the finals in Levuka.

“We have finished our Suva play-off. We have seen our rankings. St Joseph’s is still the top bet in Levuka. But the Levuka schools should not be underestimated,” he said.

From the West, Tilak High School, Nadi SSKMC and Shiri Vivekananda College qualify as the U16 girls contenders.

St Thomas High School, THS and Natabua High School will compete in the boys U16 grade.

Jasper Williams High School, SVC and NHS are the U19 girls qualifiers while SVC, THS and NHS will be competitors in the boys grade.

In the Levuka District, St John’s College, Levuka Public School and Delana Methodist High School will be tough in the U16 and U19 in both boys and girls divisions.
