More schools have shown their interest in participating in the Fiji Secondary School Hockey Meet.

Tournament President Immanuel Prasad says there has been a tremendous turn-out from the players.

“We have the age-grade system from having four hundred or so students… now we have more than 800 students participating in hockey and I think that is a great improvement for the development of secondary schools hockey”.

Prasad says the young players have shown a lot of maturity from playing in the local competition.

“Most of them do play club level hockey… they really need to come down to the secondary school level.”

The three-day tournament will be finishing off at the National Hockey Centre in Laucala tomorrow.
