Lautoka Hockey News

March 15, 2012

Lautoka hockey season kicks off early  this year and plans are under way to  resurrect the local hockey league. It is promising to see that a new administration committee is active once again.

One of the issues needing immediate tackling is the availability of grounds for hockey matches. Lautoka City Council needs to come to the realisation that field hockey is traditionally part of Lautoka’s rich sporting culture. The district may lack artificial hockey surface for now, but good quality grass turf must be secured because  hockey enthusiasts in the sugar city would like to see hockey become supreme once again.  Lautoka Mens and Womens teams are aiming to go after the national hockey titles in a big way  this year and  local sponsors from Lautoka businesses are urgently needed to help our district hockey teams.
