Levuka Public School is gearing up for the Fiji Secondary Schools Hockey Tournament which will be held from Thursday to Saturday at the National Hockey Centre in Suva.
The Under-16 and U19 teams received a timely boost over the weekend when they were given hockey sticks donated by Tai Smith, Fiji Hockey’s development officer.
And two sets of goalkeepers gear were donated by Ben and Rosemary Rova.
LPS are current holders of the Bhasin Trophy (U19 boys) after they defeated Marist Brothers High School last year.
LPS also won the final of the Westmere Trophy (U19 girls) last year but lost out after a protest to St Joseph’s Secondary School. The last time LPS won this trophy was in 1977. The Sandys Trophy (U16 girls) was won by LPS in 2012.
Marist Brothers High School will defend the Noall Trophy (U16 boys). LPS had won this trophy in 2001.
The team acknowledges the support of LPS principal Nanise Tuimanono and staff, LPS Old Scholars Association, parents, guardians and supporters.
